A barcode search does not always find the product you have in front of you. With AVGusto 1.7.0, you can add a missing packaged food from its nutrition label and make it available in the shared product catalog.
Search before you type
Start by searching for the product name or scanning its barcode. AVGusto checks Open Food Facts and its community catalog. When you find a match, choose your portion in grams or millilitres. The app calculates calories and nutrients for that amount before you save it to your diary.
Add a product from its label
If the product is missing, open Add product. Take or upload a photo of the front of the package and a photo of the nutrition label. You can scan or type the barcode.
AI reads the photos and prepares an editable draft. Check the product name, the unit, and the nutrition values against the package. Label reading can make mistakes, so you remain in control of what is published. You can also enter the details manually.
Help make the catalog more useful
After you confirm the details, the product becomes available in the shared catalog for other people to find. Publishing a product does not share your personal diary or goals. A personal dish without a barcode can still be entered privately.
Keep your photo scans for meals
AI label reading is free and does not use your daily AI photo scan allowance. It reads the nutrition information printed on a package; meal photo analysis estimates what is on your plate.
Find a product, check the details, and choose the portion that fits your meal.
